I was conversing with a brother the other day and he described his will as being like steel. That is certainly a traditional description but it caused me to notice that I did not experience my will in that way.
So I wonder:
- how do brethren experience their will - what is the role of will in Masonry

I have a strong will and will resist, with force if needs be , if anyone tries to force me to do or say anything with which I do not agree or which I find contrary or offensive to my beliefs and value system.
If however I am shown to be wrong for fact or can be convinced of the validity of an alternative position then I can be persuaded to change, my becoming a Co-Mason being a prime example of that, so I am not inflexible.

Matt 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil
Any thoughts?

Has humanty a propensity to succumb to evil then? Firstly, what is evil? That can differ from cuture to culture.
I for example consider inflicting any form of mutilation on another person to be wrong, yet some cultures have both male and female Circumcision, tribal face marking on babies which they will bear for the rest of their lives and cannot possibly consent. Other cultures hold such practicies to be sacrosanct.
Who is more wrong in the following example? The UK and USA for invading Afghanistan to force our system of values or the Taleban for imposing their strict values on the population in parts of that country?

Do I detect some resistance?
